I was born in the small Texas town of Wellington on September 22nd, 1972. Ironically, I share my birthday with instructor Loc… though not the same year (I had it first). Most of my life has been spent in Texas, but in 1997 I did move to California for three years to accommodate changing job requirements. I am a non-degreed Mechanical engineer by trade, hailing from the drafting and documentation side and being promoted through the ranks. I currently work at Karlee in Garland, a manufacturing shop. I believe that the most relevant aspects of my life and personality revolve around my lifetime commitment to the study of martial arts. Though my first martial arts experience was at the age of ten, I began serious study by age seventeen. Through moves and job transfers I have experienced several other styles of martial arts, including Shotokan karate, Wing Chung, and Wu Shu, as well as some self-study of Kali Escrima. All of these styles have their own merit, yet none of them quite suited my needs the way Qi Gong does. What first drew me to Qi Gong Kung Fu is my great love of the beauty and flow of the forms and the health benefits of daily practice, but recently I have come to love teaching very much. My desire to become a Qi Gong instructor was due in no small part to my realization that there are so many people who would benefit from the vast knowledge, skills, and numerous health benefits that were generously taught to me by Sifu Tran. I have found that teaching others and helping them to improve their skills also enhances my own skills and knowledge exponentially. Teaching has led me to become more patient and caring towards not only my students, but others as well. I know for a fact that dedicated practitioners of Qi Gong Kung-Fu will see marked improvement in their total health, including stress reduction, lower blood pressure and heart rate, better muscle tone, and an overall sense of well-being. As for myself, I have come to see the practice of Qi Gong as a commitment to a lifestyle, one that I have chosen, not just a hobby.
